EXIT AND EMERGENCY LIGHTS

The National Construction Code and the Building code of Australia require specific buildings to have both Exit and Emergency lights installed and maintained to Australian Standards

AS and AS/NZS 2293 parts 1, 2 and 3 LIST design and installation requirements, maintenance requirements as well as performance requirements. The requirements detailed in these standards are the minimum requirements.

Emergency exit signs need to be tested to ensure compliance with AS/NZS2293. The minimum test requirements are -

  • A duration test to see how the emergency exit sign performs through a series of charge and discharge cycles at low and high temperatures.
  • A photometric test to ensure the light output is sufficient for a particular space.
  • A format, luminance and colour test

SMOKE ALARMS

The Building code of Australia required smoke alarms to be installed in specific locations and tested to Australian Standards .

AS 3786-1993 details the testing and inspection requirements. SEC Inspection can assist residential, commercial and industrial building owners with compliance to the Act and Regulations.

Smoke alarms save lives! but only properly maintained and tested smoke alarms save lives.

Full Log Book services and certificates of compliance are provided as part of SEC Inspections testing and inspection services.

  • An audible and decibel test is conducted to ensure smoke alarms can be heard.
  • A smoke test is preformed to ensure the alarm/s will activate in the event of smoke or fire.
  • An interconnection test will be preformed to ensure all smoke alarms work at the same time.
